Wagtails kennels are set among 10 acres (40,000 sq mtr) of Almond Groves in a beautiful mountain position overlooking the ancient town of Alhama de Granada with its famous hot springs and deep fertile gorge.

Alhama de Granada although being in the province of Granada is well situated for those families from the Malaga province wishing to board there pets with us at Wagtails. The coastal town of Torre del Mar is within an hours drive whilst Puente don Manuel, Periana and Vinuela are a 30 minute car ride. Granada airport is a 35 minute drive away.

We have between us over 65 years of experience caring for cats and dogs and take a great deal of pleasure and pride to see our furry boarders contented with their surroundings and happy to be with us. We understand how important it is to show affection and spend time with your pets, this comes easy to us as our love for these animals makes the kennels not only our livelihood but our hobby.

Wagtails are small intimate kennels with only nine units in total, to have any more would mean we would be unable to spend the time we feel is required to give our lodgers a happy stay with us.

The kennels themselves are built to a high standard using thermal blocks and roof tiles, therefore they remain cool during the hot summer months and warm on the chilly winter evenings. The fully painted kennels all have heating and a night light together with a fully enclosed interior section. All kennels have individual outer areas which are covered, fully painted and drained. Seven of the kennels are each large enough to take two big dogs whilst the remaining two kennels can take up to three large or four medium size family dogs. The cats can have great fun on the small trees in their area and spend many a predatory moment pouncing on the tree ornaments. The cats also have secure inside and outside resting facitlities.

All kennels are cleaned at least once every day and thoroughly cleaned with anti bacterial solution (as used by vets) at the end of each occupation.

The dogs have a fully enclosed exercise area of approximately 800 sq metres where they can play or relax in the shelter. They are also walked a minimum of twice a day in our 9 acre (36,000 sq mtr) fully enclosed and secure almond grove where they can also run freely off the lead or take a slow stroll for our older or less able guest. Wagtails also offer an excellent opportunity for those pets who need to shed a few pounds and/or regain fitness.

When booking your pet in with us at Wagtails it will be necessary to produce the vaccination records together with details of your pet such as: character behaviour and special dietary or medication requirements. You may also wish to bring along your pets own bed, blankets, food bowls and/or toys. Whatever you feel would make your pets Holiday here with us at Wagtails more comfortable and enjoyable.
